A market research report titled “Nanostructured materials for the biomedical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic markets,” from BCC Research (www.bccresearch.com), says that the global market for nanoparticles for these applications was worth $204.6 million last year, with that number expected to reach $684.4 million by 2012. Biomedical applications hold the largest share of the market, followed by cosmetic applications, and pharmaceuticals. Three applications stand out within these broader application segments: biodetection and labeling, orthopedic and dental, and sunscreens. [HCP]
